(poker) the lowest-ranking hand, consisting of five cards that do not form any of the other standard poker hands
A high card is a poker hand that does not form any other recognized combination, such as a pair, straight, or flush. In this hand, the highest card in the player's hand determines its strength. For example, if a player has a hand with an ace, king, nine, five, and three, the ace is the high card. If two players have a high card hand, the one with the highest card wins. If the highest cards are the same, the next highest card is compared, and so on, until a winner is determined.
- In the final round, his high card was an ace, which gave him the win.
在最后一轮,他的高牌是一张A,这让他赢得了胜利。
- They had to compare high cards when both players ended up with the same hand.

- My hand didn't have any pairs, so I ended up with a high card, which didn't help me much.

- The high card was an eight, which was not enough to win against his pair of jacks.
高牌是一张八,这不足以赢得他对杰克的一对。
- I lost the round because my high card was just a ten, while his was a queen.
